the hole in your heart
this was the very first “Hole in your Heart” that i made to comfort one of my closest friends. she lost her dog and a big piece of her heart. i enjoy making them as they are like torch paintings with no preconceived plan other than to burn a hole through a 2” wide hand cut copper heart. each one has its own spirit come alive with some help from my hand and heart. none can be duplicated.

i make these small supportive art pieces for those times when words are not enough. each time i make this piece, it has the same beginning, but it evolves very differently. this makes sense as every Hole is unique. the Hole is an empty place. it hurts like crazy until it starts to offer space. then it becomes a place for love and memories to reside as the hurt softens. the hurt may soften, but it never fully disappears. and the Love, that Love never dies.
